CVE-2026-71392 is an integer overflow vulnerability in GNU Emacs for Android through version 30.2, affecting the sfnt_read_cmap_format_12() function in src/sfnt.c. When Emacs processes a crafted TrueType font file, an unguarded addition used in an xmalloc allocation size calculation can wrap around on 32-bit builds. This integer overflow causes an undersized heap allocation, after which subsequent processing writes past the end of the allocated buffer, resulting in a heap buffer overflow write. The flaw is reachable when Emacs loads attacker-controlled font data, including through email content, EWW-rendered content, or documents that reference custom faces. Successful exploitation causes heap memory corruption and may enable code execution.
