CVE-2026-72129 is an out-of-bounds read vulnerability in the Linux kernel NVMe target RDMA implementation. In nvmet_rdma_use_inline_sg(), a host-controlled inline-data offset is accepted when the offset-plus-length range is within inline_data_size, but the scatterlist mapping originally assumes the range starts in the first inline page. Where inline_data_size exceeds PAGE_SIZE, an offset above the first page causes the calculation of the first scatterlist segment length to underflow, producing an extremely large length and allowing the block backend to read beyond the inline page. The page-count calculation also omits the offset, under-counting scatterlist entries for valid ranges that cross a page boundary. Response cleanup could additionally misidentify a persistent inline scatterlist as allocated and free an inline page. The fix derives a page index and in-page offset from the supplied offset, computes the page count using the in-page offset plus length, and uses a range check for identifying inline scatterlists during cleanup.
