CVE-2026-73433 is a memory-safety flaw in GStreamer gst-plugins-good affecting the avidemux parser while processing FUJIFILM metadata stored in AVI strd chunks. In gst_avi_demux_parse_strd(), a remaining-length counter is decremented by fixed offsets of 98 bytes and 10 bytes without first verifying that sufficient input data remains. For crafted strd payload lengths of exactly 106 or 107 bytes, this logic causes an unsigned integer underflow, turning the remaining-length value into a very large number. Subsequent null-terminated string scanning then operates past the end of the allocated heap buffer, resulting in heap out-of-bounds reads. Date-format normalization performed during parsing may also write beyond the end of the buffer, creating an out-of-bounds write condition. The flaw is reachable through the avidemux element, which is auto-plugged by common GStreamer components including playbin, decodebin, and gst-discoverer, so parsing a crafted AVI file is sufficient to trigger the vulnerability.
