CVE-2026-73624 is an arbitrary file overwrite vulnerability in GitPython affecting versions before 3.1.54. The flaw is in the Diffable.diff method, which insufficiently validates Git options forwarded through keyword arguments. An attacker can pass the Git --output option via the other parameter or the output keyword argument, causing generated patch content to be written to an attacker-chosen filesystem path. Because the write occurs with the privileges of the running process, the issue can be abused to overwrite files accessible to that process.
