CVE-2026-76886 is a heap-based buffer overflow in Wireshark's C12.22 dissector while processing large cleartext-authentication payloads through EAX/CMAC handling. Eax_Decrypt() accepts packet-derived 32-bit component lengths but passes them to CMAC routines using 16-bit length parameters. Truncation and subsequent integer wraparound can cause a small heap allocation followed by substantially larger memory-copy operations before MAC verification. The issue affects Wireshark 4.6.0 through 4.6.7 and the 4.4 branch before 4.4.18.
