CVE-2026-76926 is a denial-of-service vulnerability in the Wireshark BUSMASTER capture-file parser affecting Wireshark 4.6.0 through 4.6.7 and 4.4.0 through 4.4.18. A newline encountered while parsing an unfinished BUSMASTER header or time statement reaches a Flex fatal-error path. Rather than reporting a malformed capture file to the caller, the generated scanner terminates the process with exit status 2. The issue affects Wireshark, TShark, and applications that embed libwiretap when they process attacker-controlled input, including during automatic file-format detection.
