A validly signed cached NSEC3 RRset belonging to an unrelated sibling zone can be incorrectly accepted as proof that a delegation is insecure. This permits downgrading of a secure delegation and acceptance of a forged unsigned DNS answer. Affected versions include BIND 9.11.0 through 9.18.50, 9.20.0 through 9.20.27, 9.21.0 through 9.21.25, and corresponding affected Supported Preview Edition releases.
