CVE-2026-78221 is an incorrect buffer-size calculation in OpenVPN's Windows Interactive Service (openvpnserv) affecting versions 2.7_alpha1 through 2.7.6. While processing Name Resolution Policy Table (NRPT) domain lists, the service incorrectly calculates the size of the converted wide-character MULTI_SZ list when supplied UTF-8 internationalized domain names. The incorrect NRPT domain size passed to the processing function causes a buffer overread and may result in extra data being stored in the Windows Registry.
