CVE-2026-80274 is a remotely exploitable denial-of-service vulnerability in BIND 9 DNSSEC-validating resolvers. When processing a response for a DNSSEC-signed authoritative zone, the resolver can exit unexpectedly if it receives a valid wildcard answer with a signed NSEC3 proof followed by an unsigned NSEC record at the same owner name. The malformed proof combination causes the resolver to abort while caching a mismatched NOQNAME proof. Affected versions include BIND 9.11.0 through 9.18.50, 9.20.0 through 9.20.27, 9.21.0 through 9.21.25, and the corresponding affected Supported Preview Edition releases.
