Security Constraint Bypass in Apache Camel Netty HTTP
CVE-2026-80343 is a security constraint bypass vulnerability in Apache Camel's camel-netty-http component affecting versions 4.0.0 before 4.18.5 and 4.19.0 before 4.22.1. The security constraint compares the request path against the configured context path case-sensitively, while endpoint dispatch uses different case-matching rules. An unauthenticated caller can change the case of a character in a request-path segment, causing the security constraint to skip protection while routing still dispatches the request to the protected endpoint.
What it means and what to do now: patch path, interim mitigations, and the assume-compromise checklist.
What an attacker gets, and what they’ve been doing with it.
Unauthenticated remote attackers can access protected routes without satisfying their configured security constraints. Consequences depend on the functionality exposed by those routes and may include disclosure of protected information and unauthorized operations. The published CVSS 3.1 assessment rates the vulnerability High at 8.2, with high confidentiality impact, low integrity impact, and no availability impact.
If you can’t patch tonight, do this now.
If upgrading immediately is not possible, enforce authorization before requests reach the Camel consumer, such as through a reverse proxy that normalizes request paths before forwarding and applies authorization consistently to the normalized paths.
Patch, then assume compromise.
Upgrade to Apache Camel 4.23.0 or later, or the fixed LTS releases 4.18.5 and 4.22.1 for their respective release streams. These releases align security-constraint path matching with the case rules used by endpoint dispatch. The end-of-life 4.14.x stream does not receive the fix; migrate those deployments to a supported fixed release.
