CVE-2026-81642 is a heap-based buffer overflow in the DNSSEC validator of NLnet Labs Unbound through version 1.26.0. During DNSKEY digest processing, a malicious DNSKEY record whose owner-name compression pointer refers to its own RDATA can cause overflow of the digest buffer. The condition can be triggered when a vulnerable resolver queries an attacker-controlled DNS zone and processes the crafted DNSSEC data.
