CVE-2026-82720 is a use-after-free vulnerability in NLnet Labs Unbound DNS-over-HTTPS stream-cleanup handling. It affects Unbound versions 1.12.0 through 1.26.0 when built with libnghttp2 support and configured to provide DNS-over-HTTPS. In failure paths, including RPZ-driven query drops and jostling under heavy traffic, dropping one DNS-over-HTTPS stream can tear down the shared HTTP/2 session without correctly accounting for other streams in that session. Subsequent cleanup-path access can reference freed memory. The affected reads are not attacker-controlled and ordinarily result in early returns.
