CVE-2026-8472 is an improper access control vulnerability in GitLab Enterprise Edition work items. It affects GitLab EE versions 18.9 before 18.11.7, 19.0 before 19.0.4, and 19.1 before 19.1.2. Under certain conditions, missing authorization checks allowed an authenticated user with minimal access permissions to read work item metadata associated with private projects. The flaw is rooted in insufficient server-side authorization enforcement on work item access, resulting in exposure of private project metadata to users who should not have been permitted to view it.
