CVE-2026-87864 is an IMAP command injection vulnerability affecting curl and libcurl versions 7.30.0 through 8.21.0. When CURLOPT_CRLF is enabled for an IMAP APPEND upload, curl advertises the original input byte count in the IMAP literal declaration but transmits additional bytes after expanding line endings. The server consumes only the declared number of bytes as message data and can interpret the remaining bytes as pipelined IMAP commands. A crafted upload can therefore inject commands into the authenticated IMAP session. This is a protocol-framing flaw, not a memory buffer overflow.

Incorrect handling of IMAP APPEND with CURLOPT_CRLF enabled allows overflow bytes to become pipelined commands, potentially enabling an authenticated attacker to inject arbitrary IMAP commands.
A curl IMAP command-injection vulnerability triggered when CURLOPT_CRLF expands line endings without adjusting the advertised APPEND payload length. Excess bytes can be executed as IMAP commands within an authenticated session. The advisory rates it Medium, with a CVSS v3.1 score of 5.7, and lists fixes as pending for the affected Amazon Linux packages.
A high-severity vulnerability affecting curl and related packages in Echo. The advisory reports a CVSS v3 base score of 8.8, with network access, low attack complexity, low privileges required, no user interaction, and high confidentiality, integrity, and availability impacts. The underlying flaw is not described. The vulnerability and patch were published on October 14, 2026.
