ABAP Code Injection in SAP S/4HANA Manage Substitution/Validation Rules
CVE-2026-89107 is a code injection vulnerability in SAP S/4HANA's Manage Substitution/Validation Rules functionality. Insufficient validation of input supplied through the domain-specific scripting language used for rule definitions allows an authenticated attacker with specific business privileges to submit crafted input that the rule-processing logic interprets as executable ABAP code. Successful exploitation can result in arbitrary ABAP code execution and full compromise of the affected system. The vulnerability has a reported CVSS v3.1 score of 9.9.
What it means and what to do now: patch path, interim mitigations, and the assume-compromise checklist.
What an attacker gets, and what they’ve been doing with it.
Successful exploitation can fully compromise the affected SAP S/4HANA system, with high impacts on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. Arbitrary ABAP code execution can enable unauthorized access to sensitive application data, modification of data and application behavior, and disruption of system operations.
If you can’t patch tonight, do this now.
No vulnerability-specific workaround is documented in the available information. Pending patch deployment, restrict access to Manage Substitution/Validation Rules and limit the business privileges required to define or modify rules to trusted users.
Patch, then assume compromise.
