CVE-2026-9323 is a session hijacking vulnerability in the urwid web display backend, specifically in urwid/display/web.py. In Screen.start(), the backend generates the web session identifier by concatenating two random.randrange(10**9) values produced by Python's Mersenne Twister PRNG. Because Mersenne Twister is not cryptographically secure, repeated observation of issued session identifiers can allow reconstruction of the generator's internal state and prediction of past and future session IDs. The same identifier is also reused as the filename for a FIFO created in a world-listable temporary directory, enabling local users on the host to enumerate active session tokens directly. Possession of a valid session ID allows unauthorized access to the associated web terminal session, including viewing terminal output and sending input to the victim session.
