Plex Media Server versions before 1.43.3.10861 contain a path traversal vulnerability in the media retrieval endpoint. The server constructs a filesystem path from the url parameter without validating parent-directory traversal sequences. A remote attacker with a valid session token, or a LAN-adjacent attacker supplying a spoofed X-Forwarded-For header, can read arbitrary files accessible to the operating-system account running Plex Media Server. Exposed data can include the PlexOnlineToken, whose theft enables control of the Plex account and server.

A path traversal vulnerability affecting Plex Media Server versions earlier than 1.43.3.10861. Plex released a security update; users should upgrade to version 1.43.3.10861 or later.
A path traversal vulnerability allows a remote attacker with a valid session token to read files accessible to the server's user, including PlexOnlineToken, potentially granting control of the Plex account and server. The content also describes exploitation by a LAN-adjacent attacker using a client-supplied X-Forwarded-For header.
A Plex Media Server vulnerability rated CVSS 7.1, disclosed and patched alongside the Plex2Shell vulnerabilities. The article does not describe its technical mechanism or identify it as part of the exploited chain. Patched in version 1.43.3.10861.
