CVE-2026-9795 is a privilege escalation vulnerability in Keycloak's Fine-Grained Admin Permissions v2 (FGAPv2). The flaw is caused by a missing authorization check in the admin REST API handling client scope mappings. In the affected implementation, the write paths associated with scope-mapping management fail to enforce the required per-role permission check, allowing a delegated administrator with limited client management rights to add arbitrary realm roles to a client's scope mapping. As a result, roles outside the administrator's intended authority, including highly privileged realm roles such as realm-admin, can be attached to a client. When users authenticate through that client, the injected roles can be projected into issued tokens, effectively poisoning downstream authorization context and bypassing intended separation between client-scoped administration and realm-level privilege assignment. Affected deployments include Keycloak versions from 26.2.0 onward when FGAPv2 is enabled, including the Red Hat build of Keycloak under the same feature conditions.
