TA450 is an Iranian state-linked threat actor associated with espionage activity. In late 2024 it was observed adopting the ClickFix social-engineering technique, using phishing emails themed as Microsoft security updates to persuade targets to execute PowerShell commands on their own systems. This user-driven execution method reflects the actor’s use of deceptive installation and execution tradecraft rather than relying solely on traditional malware delivery chains. In the observed activity, the PowerShell execution installed remote management and monitoring software, which was then used to support espionage objectives and data exfiltration. High-confidence reporting links TA450 to Iranian operations and characterizes its activity as intelligence collection rather than financially motivated crime.
