Sanggiero is a cybercriminal threat actor known for the 2024 compromise and extortion of PandaBuy, a Chinese e-commerce intermediary platform. The actor publicly claimed responsibility for stealing large volumes of customer and employee-related data by exploiting multiple vulnerabilities in PandaBuy’s API and platform, and was also reported to have worked with the threat actor IntelBroker in the intrusion. Sanggiero subsequently leaked part of the stolen data on a cybercrime forum, offered broader datasets for sale, and allegedly attempted repeated extortion after the victim had already paid to suppress disclosure. The operation associated with Sanggiero centered on unauthorized access to internet-facing application components, theft of sensitive data, public leaking of samples, and monetization through ransom and resale. Reported exposed information included customer personally identifiable information and order-related records, with screenshots also allegedly showing employee account data. The actor’s behavior indicates a financially motivated intrusion pattern combining initial access through exploitation of vulnerabilities, data exfiltration, post-compromise monetization, and data-theft extortion rather than ransomware encryption. High-confidence reporting links Sanggiero to breach-forum activity involving publication of stolen records, attempted resale of the full dataset, and repeated pressure on the victim organization after an initial payment. The available evidence supports characterization of Sanggiero as a financially motivated data extortion actor rather than a state-sponsored operator.
