GhostVendors is a large-scale online fraud network associated with malvertising on Meta platforms, particularly Facebook, to promote thousands of fraudulent marketplace-style websites. The operation is known for rapidly launching and stopping ads, a tactic that reduces visibility and complicates retrospective tracking in advertising transparency systems. Its infrastructure has been used to lure shoppers to fake e-commerce pages that impersonate legitimate marketplace activity and are designed either to steal payment-card data entered during checkout or to facilitate non-delivery fraud. The activity is financially motivated and centered on social-media advertising abuse rather than traditional intrusion operations. Reported tradecraft includes purchasing ad space, rotating large numbers of suspicious storefronts, and targeting consumer shoppers through English- and Spanish-language marketplace themes. Some fraudulent storefronts have incorporated mainstream digital-payment interfaces to increase credibility and improve conversion. Available reporting supports GhostVendors as a fraud-focused threat actor or network engaged in payment theft and e-commerce deception; high-confidence attribution to a specific country is not currently available.
