Power Parasites is a scam-focused threat cluster active since at least September 2024 that targets individuals in South Asia through job and investment fraud. The operation uses deceptive websites impersonating energy companies and other well-known firms, alongside social media groups, video platforms, and messaging channels, to lure victims. Its objective is to harvest victims’ banking information through social engineering rather than conduct traditional espionage or disruptive intrusion activity. Reported targeting includes individuals in Bangladesh, Nepal, and India. Based on available reporting, the group is best characterized as a financially motivated fraud actor. High-confidence evidence in the available material supports initial access through social engineering and credential or financial-information theft, but does not substantiate broader intrusion capabilities, ransomware activity, or a confirmed national affiliation.
