AMOS stealer operators are cybercriminals associated with the delivery and use of Atomic macOS Stealer (AMOS), an infostealer focused on compromising Apple macOS users. Reported activity includes the abuse of search-engine poisoning to place malicious content themed around popular AI platforms such as ChatGPT and Grok in search results, luring victims into executing malicious Terminal commands that install the stealer. This tradecraft relies on social engineering and trusted-brand impersonation rather than traditional email phishing alone. The actor’s objective is credential and data theft, consistent with infostealer operations that seek access to victim accounts and other valuable information for downstream monetization. Available information directly supports initial-access activity via deceptive search-result placement and user execution, followed by credential theft and data exfiltration. Attribution to a specific country, broader victim geography, or a more formal named intrusion set is not currently available.
