AndroxGh0st is an actively maintained botnet and cloud-focused malware family that compromises vulnerable web servers, IoT devices, network appliances, and enterprise applications. It systematically scans for and exploits known vulnerabilities, including flaws enabling command injection, remote code execution, file inclusion, or access to administrative interfaces. The operators have also used credential-stuffing and brute-force activity against exposed services. Compromised systems communicate with command-and-control infrastructure, including infrastructure hosted through compromised legitimate websites, and may download and execute additional payloads. AndroxGh0st has established persistence by modifying PHP files and startup scripts. Activity associated with the botnet has included deployment of IoT-oriented payloads with similarities to Mozi. Attribution to a specific country or state sponsor is not established with high confidence.

Androxgh0st is a botnet active since January 2024, known for systematic exploitation of web application and IoT device vulnerabilities to gain unauthorized access, establish persistent backdoors, and expand its botnet. It has recently integrated Mozi botnet payloads, targeting a wide range of technologies and devices for mass-surveillance and control, with a focus on vulnerabilities in web servers, routers, and IoT devices.
