Atroposia is a cybercriminal operation centered on the sale and use of a plug-and-play remote access Trojan marketed to low-skill affiliates on underground forums. The offering lowers the barrier to entry for enterprise-targeting intrusions by packaging stealth, persistence, and post-compromise functionality into a modular, user-friendly malware platform. Atroposia supports encrypted command-and-control communications, hidden remote desktop access, credential theft, cryptocurrency theft, DNS hijacking, vulnerability scanning, stealthy file management, persistence, and bulk data exfiltration. It has also been associated with bypassing user account control and use as a backdoor after initial compromise. Reported initial access methods include phishing, malicious websites, and exploitation of unpatched software. The operation appears financially motivated, with the malware sold as a subscription service to criminal affiliates rather than attributed to a nation-state sponsor.
