TacoLoco is a malicious traffic monetization and affiliate advertising network associated with deceptive browser push-notification schemes. It has been linked to the broader dark ad-tech ecosystem surrounding VexTrio and related traffic distribution systems used to route victims toward scams, phishing, malware, and other abusive content. TacoLoco has been described alongside LosPollos as part of an affiliate network structure connected to entities operating in Switzerland and Russia. The network is known for using social-engineering lures, including deceptive CAPTCHA-style prompts, to trick users into enabling browser push notifications. Once permission is granted, those notifications can be abused for persistent scam delivery and malicious advertising. This behavior supports initial user compromise through spoofed prompts, facilitates ongoing access to victims through notification abuse, and contributes to downstream malware and scam distribution. TacoLoco has been linked to Adspro Group and to Swiss firms including ByteCore AG and SkyForge Digital AG, with development ties to Holacode. Reporting has also connected the surrounding ecosystem to Russian organized crime-linked malicious ad-tech operations. TacoLoco is not primarily characterized as a ransomware actor; rather, it functions as part of a monetized traffic acquisition and redirection layer that enables broader cybercriminal activity, including scam delivery, phishing, and malware distribution.
