AyySSSHush is a botnet observed compromising ASUS routers at scale, with more than 9,000 devices reportedly infected. Activity has been observed since at least March. Reporting links AyySSSHush to a branch of the VisciousTrap honeypot botnet ecosystem, and one assessment suggests it may be operated by an advanced persistent threat actor. High-confidence public information currently supports characterization of AyySSSHush as a router-focused botnet, but does not firmly establish operator identity, national attribution, victim geography, or a broader set of tactics beyond large-scale device compromise and botnet operation.
