HaxorSEO, also known as HxSEO, is a cybercriminal SEO-poisoning marketplace that sells backlinks placed on legitimate websites previously compromised by the operators. The service is used to manipulate search-engine rankings for malicious destinations, including phishing pages, malware delivery pages, and fraudulent banking login pages. It has been advertised through Telegram and WhatsApp and has offered access to a large inventory of backlinks on long-established legitimate domains, including older academic journal pages. The operation compromises websites by exploiting vulnerable PHP components and WordPress plugins, including through file-upload and remote-code-execution flaws, and maintains access with webshells. After payment, the operators automatically inject backlink code into compromised sites and place the customer’s destination on those domains. Marketplace listings emphasize SEO-oriented metrics such as page authority, domain authority, domain rating, and spam score to help buyers select backlinks likely to improve ranking performance. HaxorSEO supports malicious campaigns by providing scalable search-ranking manipulation as a service. Its infrastructure has been used to elevate phishing and malware-related content in search results and, in some observed cases, to push fraudulent banking login pages above legitimate ones. The same model can also be used to damage the search performance of legitimate sites by directing low-quality spam backlinks at them. The actor’s activity is best characterized as financially motivated cybercrime centered on SEO poisoning, website compromise, and abuse of trusted web properties for initial traffic acquisition and downstream fraud.
