World of Hell (WoH) was a hacking group active in website compromise and defacement activity. It is documented as having taken over the website of the Association for Computing Machinery, replacing the homepage with an attacker message attributed to a WoH member using the handle Messiah-X_. Publicly stated goals attributed to the group indicated an intent to compromise prominent websites in order to demonstrate that even major organizations could be hacked. A known member identified in reporting is Rafael Núñez, also known as RaFa. Available high-confidence information supports characterization of World of Hell primarily as a defacement-oriented intrusion group associated with unauthorized access to high-profile web properties; broader attribution, organizational structure, origin, and sustained operational tradecraft are not currently available.
