FA is a rebranded name associated with the operators behind the CoGUI phishing campaign and the China-based phishing-as-a-service platform FishingMaster. The group has targeted Japanese brands, including organizations in the financial, transportation, and government service sectors, and appears to operate as part of an industrialized phishing ecosystem that provides tooling and infrastructure for credential harvesting. Known related names include CoGUI, FishingMaster, and NX. The operators have been linked to phishing infrastructure built around administrative panels that support phishing site creation and configuration, stolen-data management, cloaking, domain management, and one-time-password bypass workflows. Their operations have been characterized by closed-channel promotion and distribution, limited public visibility, and the ability to rapidly adapt infrastructure. After public exposure in 2025, the operators reportedly suspended activity temporarily and later resumed under rebranded names including FA and NX. Observed tradecraft includes use of characteristic URL and API patterns, infrastructure concealment, encrypted communications, and strengthened detection evasion. The group demonstrates capabilities consistent with phishing-led initial access, credential theft, reconnaissance of target brands and infrastructure, and defense evasion through operational security improvements and rapid scaling down in response to legal or law-enforcement pressure. Available information supports classification as a financially motivated cybercriminal phishing operation rather than a state-sponsored actor.
