NX is a rebranded name used by operators associated with the China-based phishing-as-a-service ecosystem known as FishingMaster and linked to the CoGUI phishing campaign. The operators were observed resuming activity under names including NX and FA after temporarily suspending operations following public exposure. This cluster has targeted Japanese brands, particularly in the financial, transportation, and government service sectors. The actor’s operations are characteristic of an industrialized phishing service model. Associated phishing infrastructure has supported phishing site creation and configuration, stolen-data management, cloaking, domain management, and one-time-password bypass workflows. The operators have demonstrated improving operational security over time, including concealing infrastructure, encrypting communications, and strengthening detection evasion. Reporting also indicates they can rapidly scale activity down in response to legal or law-enforcement pressure and later re-emerge under new branding. NX should be understood as part of the broader FishingMaster/CoGUI phishing ecosystem rather than as a fully distinct, independently characterized intrusion set. Known related names include FishingMaster, CoGUI, and FA.
