Tropa do Arranca is a Brazilian cybercrime group associated with theft of mobile devices followed by social-engineering operations designed to compromise victims’ digital accounts and monetize stolen devices and account access. The group has been linked to phishing kits that imitate Apple and Find My workflows in order to harvest iCloud credentials and other sensitive information from victims shortly after a handset theft event. Reported objectives include unlocking stolen Apple devices, facilitating resale on illicit markets, and obtaining access to banking information and other valuable personal data. The actor’s tradecraft centers on post-theft phishing rather than exploitation of a technical vulnerability. Its lures are designed to create urgency and legitimacy by impersonating device-location or recovery services and, in some cases, incorporating real-world location context tied to São Paulo. The group has also been associated with rapid rotation of brand-abusing infrastructure and use of multiple related phishing domains, indicating an organized campaign model rather than isolated opportunistic fraud. Tropa do Arranca has been reported to coordinate activity through Telegram channels and to operate within Brazil’s broader cybercrime ecosystem. Known aliases include Tropa do Arraca and Tropa do Arranca. Available reporting supports characterization as a financially motivated criminal actor focused on credential theft, social engineering, and theft-enabled monetization of consumer mobile devices and associated accounts.
