BellTroX InfoTech Services is an India-based hack-for-hire operation associated with credential-phishing and email-account compromise campaigns. It has been linked to the Dark Basin activity cluster, also tracked as Mercenary.Amanda. The operation targeted a diverse, client-driven set of victims, including financial-sector figures and Wirecard critics, journalists, environmental and civil-society organizations, pharmaceutical companies, government-related targets, and parties involved in litigation and divorce matters. Its campaigns used spearphishing messages and impersonated login pages to harvest email credentials, enabling access to victims’ communications and subsequent collection of data. BellTroX has been associated with a broader Indian mercenary-hacking ecosystem in which offensive-security providers and private investigators support corporate and other espionage clients. BellTroX founder Sumit Gupta was indicted in the United States in connection with an earlier hack-for-hire case. Public reporting has linked BellTroX to work performed for Israeli private investigator Aviram Azari, who was convicted for coordinating global spearphishing and account-compromise operations. Direct attribution of BellTroX operations to particular end-clients, including Wirecard or Exxon, has not been established.
