Hacktivist of Garuda (HoG) is an Indonesian hacktivist brand and loose collective that emerged from a smaller defacement-oriented crew into a broader decentralized ecosystem active from at least 2022 through 2025. Rather than operating as a tightly unified team, HoG appears to function as a rotating cyber-family of semi-independent operators using shared branding, overlapping communication channels, and recurring identities. Known operators associated with HoG-branded activity include Caisar ID, DENNI5.ID, X’Boy Linux, Obito Haxor, Ghost7, and MrPL4Nkt0N. HoG is primarily associated with website defacement campaigns conducted for visibility, propaganda, and symbolic impact. Its messaging has varied by operator and campaign, including pro-Palestine, pro-Muslim, peace-oriented, and anti-India narratives, indicating an opportunistic hacktivist posture rather than a single coherent ideology. The group has repeatedly targeted Indian and Israeli websites and has also compromised Indonesian sites, including government-linked systems. In addition to defacements, HoG has occasionally conducted database compromises and minor data leaks. Operationally, HoG relies on public-facing channels and social platforms for coordination, amplification, and branding, especially Telegram and social media accounts tied to the collective identity. Evidence of reused accounts and recurring personas suggests shared access among multiple participants rather than centralized command. The group has also shown weak operational security through identity leakage and mistakes by individual members. HoG’s activity is characterized more by resilience, volume, and rapid reaction to geopolitical events than by advanced technical sophistication. Its principal capabilities center on initial access to vulnerable web assets, website defacement, limited data theft and exfiltration, and public narrative amplification. The actor is best understood as a decentralized Indonesian hacktivist ecosystem whose threat comes from unpredictability and sustained opportunistic targeting rather than from highly advanced tradecraft.
