Nashi was a pro-Kremlin Russian youth movement associated with politically motivated cyber activity during the 2007 Estonia crisis. It is widely alleged to have been involved in, and publicly claimed responsibility for, distributed denial-of-service attacks launched after Estonia relocated a Soviet war memorial in Tallinn. Those attacks disrupted Estonian government online services and affected commerce, making Nashi notable as a non-state political group linked to disruptive cyber operations aligned with Russian nationalist interests. Based on available high-confidence reporting, Nashi is best characterized as a hacktivist or politically aligned influence actor rather than a conventional cybercriminal or espionage unit. Its documented cyber behavior is limited primarily to disruptive denial-of-service activity in support of a geopolitical grievance.
