Unknown Cyber Cult is a pro-India hacktivist group active in the cyber operations that accompanied the 2025 India-Pakistan crisis and Operation Sindoor. The group has been identified alongside other pro-India collectives such as Indian Cyber Force, Indian Cyber Defender, and Kerala Cyber Xtractors. It reportedly announced a permanent shutdown in late March 2025 but re-emerged during Operation Sindoor. The group has been publicly associated with offensive activity against Pakistani targets, including a claimed compromise of Pakistan’s logistics management information system. Within the broader campaign, pro-India hacktivist activity was characterized by disruptive and intrusive operations such as distributed denial-of-service attacks, website defacements, spear phishing, social engineering, ransomware claims, and attacks against government and institutional systems. Reported target sets across the campaign included Pakistani government, military-linked, logistics, transport, banking, university, and other institutional networks. Unknown Cyber Cult is best understood as a politically motivated hacktivist actor aligned with Indian interests during a period of interstate crisis rather than as a known state-directed advanced persistent threat. High-confidence reporting supports its role as a pro-India participant in retaliatory cyber activity targeting Pakistan, but publicly available information on its internal structure, tooling, and long-term operational history remains limited.
