Caffeine is a phishing-as-a-service (PhaaS) operation associated with credential phishing against Microsoft 365 users. It has been linked to campaigns using quishing techniques, in which QR codes embedded in PDF lures direct victims to counterfeit Microsoft 365 authentication pages. Activity associated with this ecosystem has supported business email compromise objectives and adversary-in-the-middle phishing designed to capture credentials and abuse authenticated sessions, including interception of multi-factor authentication flows. Reporting indicates that ONNX Store is a revamped edition of Caffeine based on overlapping tactics, techniques, and procedures. The operation is financially motivated and lowers the barrier to entry for phishing activity by providing phishing infrastructure and kits to other threat actors. Observed tradecraft includes social-engineering-based initial access, credential theft, session hijacking, and defense evasion through techniques such as encrypted client-side code and hosting choices intended to slow disruption.
