JSCoreRunner, also known as FileRipple, is a cybercrime activity cluster associated with macOS-focused malvertising and trojanized application campaigns. It has been linked to the broader TamperedChef, also known as EvilAI, ecosystem and to the threat cluster CL-CRI-1089. The actor has used malicious advertisements on major online platforms and trojanized productivity-themed software to lure victims into installing malicious desktop applications on macOS systems. Activity associated with JSCoreRunner includes delivery of malware families and variants such as FlutterShell, Recipe Lister, and Calendaromatic. FlutterShell is a Flutter-based backdoor and adware-capable malware family that supports arbitrary command execution, file system interaction, environment variable exfiltration, browser hijacking, system fingerprinting, and theft of browser session data. Observed variants include PodcastsLounge, PDF-Brain, and PDF-Ninja. Some variants have incorporated document-handling workflows that relay files through attacker-controlled infrastructure for AI-assisted summarization, indicating ongoing development and experimentation. A notable operational characteristic is the use of valid Apple Developer IDs and Apple notarization to improve trust and evade user suspicion on macOS. The malware architecture has also used embedded WebView components with a JavaScript-to-native bridge, allowing malicious logic to be hosted remotely and behavior to be changed dynamically without redeploying the binary. This design supports defense evasion and flexible post-compromise tasking. Known targeting includes macOS users in North America, Europe, and Australia, with confirmed victim geography including the United States, Canada, Australia, France, and Germany. The actor's operations are consistent with financially motivated cybercrime centered on adware monetization, browser abuse, session theft, and broader post-infection access.
