Brute Ratel C4 is a commercial adversary simulation and command-and-control framework that has also been observed in malicious intrusion activity. It is used for post-exploitation operations and can function as a delivery mechanism for additional malware. In July 2024, it was observed delivering the Latrodectus downloader. In this context, Brute Ratel C4 acted as an operational staging or payload-delivery component rather than as a standalone malware family. The name "BRC4" is a common shorthand for Brute Ratel C4. High-confidence reporting in this context supports its use for malware delivery and post-compromise activity, but does not directly establish a specific nation-state attribution, victimology profile, or dominant motivation for the actor or operators using it.
