LOOKOVER is a TACACS+ credential-sniffing tool used by the China-nexus threat cluster UNC3886. It passively captures TACACS+ authentication packets to collect administrator credentials. UNC3886 has also replaced the legitimate tac_plus authentication daemon with a backdoored credential-logging version, an activity associated with its use of LOOKOVER. The tool has been deployed in compromises of network infrastructure and associated authentication systems as part of espionage-focused operations.
