STAR Labs disclosed two document-handling flaws in Hancom Office products that can be triggered by opening a specially crafted Office Open XML Workbook (.xlsx) file. One issue, tracked as CVE-2019-16337, is a use-after-free in the HncBD90 component of Hancom Office NEO 9.6.1.9403, where a reallocated memory buffer leaves a stale pointer in use and can lead to an access violation and possible code execution in the context of the application.
A second flaw, CVE-2019-16339, affects Hancom Hangul Office through the HCell component and SDSerialize.dll, with vulnerable versions including HCell.exe 9.6.1.7363 and SDSerialize 9.6.1.9403. The bug causes unspecified memory corruption during OOXML parsing, producing a crash in SDSerialize!CSDObject::IsMaintainObject while processing workbook content. In both cases, the attack vector is a malicious spreadsheet file, and STAR Labs reported that Hancom later issued silent fixes rather than publicly detailing the patches.
