Apache disclosed CVE-2026-45812, a low-severity out-of-bounds read in Apache NimBLE caused by using sizeof(pointer) in buffer size calculations while processing Legacy Advertising Report HCI events. When a single HCI advertising report event contains multiple reports, NimBLE can miscalculate the offset to the next report, read past the end of the buffer, and deliver invalid GAP event data to the application.
The flaw affects Apache NimBLE through version 1.9.0 and is fixed in version 1.10.0. Apache said the practical impact is limited because NimBLE’s own controller does not batch multiple advertising reports into one event; exploitation would require deploying the NimBLE host with a third-party controller that does batch multiple reports.

The advisory states that CVE-2026-45812 is fixed in Apache NimBLE version 1.10.0. It also notes the practical impact is limited because NimBLE’s own controller does not batch multiple reports into one event, so exploitation requires a third-party controller that does.
An oss-sec advisory disclosed CVE-2026-45812 in Apache NimBLE, describing a low-severity out-of-bounds read caused by incorrect buffer size calculation when processing Legacy Advertising Report HCI events. The issue affects Apache NimBLE through version 1.9.0 and can occur when a single HCI advertising report event contains multiple reports.
