Oracle fixed CVE-2017-10060, a high-severity denial-of-service vulnerability in Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition (OBIEE), as part of its October 2017 Critical Patch Update. The flaw affects OBIEE within Oracle Fusion Middleware and allows an authenticated application user to send a specially crafted request that triggers resource exhaustion, causing an immediate application-layer service outage.
The vulnerability was reported to Oracle in mid-July by Tor Erling Bjørstad of mnemonic and was assigned a CVSS v3 score of 8.2. Multiple OBIEE versions were affected, and organizations using the platform were urged to apply Oracle’s patch to prevent attackers from disrupting BI services through crafted requests.
