U.S. intelligence officials reportedly identified Alice Huang, a former executive at Singapore-based Nvidia customer Megaspeed, as a suspected Chinese intelligence asset who met Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang multiple times. According to reporting attributed to The New York Times, surveillance prompted by suspected evasion of U.S. AI-chip export restrictions revealed the relationship and led officials to conclude she was passing commercial information to Beijing. Officials reportedly believed Jensen Huang was unaware of her alleged intelligence activities. The reports do not establish that Nvidia systems were compromised or that information was stolen from the company.
Officials were concerned about potential access to sensitive information, including through Jensen Huang’s relationship with President Donald Trump. Trump was reportedly briefed roughly a year before publication but took no action, while Jensen Huang reportedly received no defensive briefing. The investigation also raised questions about boxed Nvidia equipment at Megaspeed’s Malaysian data center. Nvidia described the meetings as routine customer engagement involving no national-security information and said earlier chip-diversion allegations had been investigated and debunked; Chinese government representatives denied the intelligence allegations. The allegations highlight executive-access and customer due-diligence risks, rather than a confirmed cyber intrusion.
