SGI IRIX 6.4 and earlier contains an untrusted search-path vulnerability in netprint. When netprint locates and executes its disable helper program, it relies on the caller-controlled PATH environment variable rather than an explicitly specified trusted pathname. A local user can place a substitute disable program in an attacker-controlled directory and arrange for that directory to be searched first, causing netprint to execute the substitute with netprint's privileges.
