CVE-2000-0720 is an improper authentication vulnerability in the GWScripts News Publisher CGI application. The news.cgi component fails to properly authenticate requests that add an author to the author index. A remote attacker can submit a crafted HTTP request to new.cgi containing the addAuthor parameter while supplying a Referer value identifying news.cgi, thereby creating new author accounts without proper authorization.
