CVE-2001-0236 is a buffer overflow vulnerability in the Solaris snmpXdmid SNMP-to-DMI mapper daemon. The flaw is in the code path that translates DMI indications into SNMP events, where an overly long indication event can overflow a buffer. A remote attacker can trigger the condition by sending crafted input to the daemon, leading to arbitrary command execution. On affected Solaris releases, the daemon is enabled by default, increasing exposure.
