CVE-2001-0500 is a remotely exploitable stack-based buffer overflow in the ISAPI extension idq.dll used by Microsoft Index Server 2.0 and Indexing Service 2000 with IIS. The flaw is triggered by sending an overly long argument to Internet Data Administration (.ida) or Internet Data Query (.idq) requests, such as requests to default.ida. Successful exploitation corrupts memory in the Indexing Service ISAPI extension and allows attacker-supplied code to execute. The issue was widely exploited by the Code Red and Code Red II worms via crafted HTTP GET requests containing long encoded payloads.

This repository contains a single Metasploit module (Ruby file) that exploits a stack buffer overflow vulnerability in the IDQ ISAPI handler of Microsoft IIS 5.0 (CVE-2001-0500, MS01-033). The exploit targets Windows 2000 Professional (English, SP0-SP2) systems running IIS 5.0 with the vulnerable handler enabled. The module constructs a specially crafted HTTP GET request to TCP port 80, targeting a .idq resource, and delivers a payload that can be customized by the user (up to 800 bytes, avoiding specific bad characters). Upon successful exploitation, arbitrary code execution is achieved with the privileges of the IIS process. The module is fully integrated into the Metasploit framework, allowing for payload selection and automated exploitation. No hardcoded IPs or domains are present; the exploit is generic and targets any vulnerable IIS 5.0 instance accessible over the network.
