Zetetic Secure Tool for Recalling Important Passwords (STRIP) version 0.5 and earlier for PalmOS is vulnerable to local password recovery attacks. The vulnerability arises from the use of SysRandom, seeded with TimeGetTicks, as the source of randomness, combined with an implementation flaw that significantly reduces the effective password search space. This allows an attacker with local access to brute force stored passwords efficiently.
