Faust Informatics Freestyle Chat Server versions prior to 4.1 SR3 contain a relative path traversal vulnerability. The server fails to properly neutralize nonstandard multi-dot traversal patterns, including triple-dot and quadruple-dot sequences, in URL-supplied path input. A remote attacker can craft a request that escapes the intended directory and accesses arbitrary files readable by the chat-server process.
